Do you start your day slowly and gently with a cuppa while you sit and just be present with yourself?
You can do this either in the garden or simply looking out the window while appreciating the beauty of the natural world? Do you start with exercise and a healthy breakfast to give your body?
Or do you start with 3 presses of the snooze button followed by a mad rush to get ready, skip breakfast and scream out the door to make it to school or work on time.
Do you sit with your partner or family and have breakfast and discuss what you are all looking forward to the most about the day?
Or do you yell “HURRY UP!” at everyone from another room and stress out because once again you are all running late.
The way you start your day, sets the tone for the rest of the day for you and your family.
Start it with stress, anger and rushing and that will follow you throughout your day. It can affect your mood, your conversations, productivity and your reactions, long after you leave the house.
We trick ourselves into thinking that extra 30 minute ‘snooze button’ sleep in is beneficial, when in fact it does the opposite if it puts you into a state of rush and stress. You can be exhausted by the time you get to work.
If you wake up 30 minutes earlier and start your day gently, with either; a cuppa while practicing gratitude meditation (focusing on and listing everything in your life and around you that is wonderful and beautiful) Or, exercise while practicing gratitude meditation. You will notice the rest of your day will be more likely to flow in that sense of calm and happiness.
Take the 2 week ‘set the tone’ challenge and see for yourself.
Wake up 30 minutes before you need to for the purpose of meditation or exercise. Either way, you must be sure to focus your mind on everything in your life that makes you happy, as well as everything around you that is beautiful and praiseworthy.
List things that you are grateful for in your head or on paper, even anything positive you can find in a challenge you may be facing.
Remember – you are worth it!
